ACTIVITIES
The activities you can carry out during your stay in the CABARCENO hostel are both numerous and varied. They can be divided up into different categories depending on their nature and the age of the people staying with us:
A) OPEN AIR: the following activities come under this category:
- Cabárceno Park environmental lecture room.
- Workshops related to nature.
- Methods for observing flora and fauna.
- Environmental education programmes.
- Hillwalking in the Sierra de Cabarga Park.
- Downriver canoeing.
- Mountain bike.
- Archery.
- Indoor climbing wall, tirolina and abseiling.
- Orienteering, use of compass and maps.
B) SPORTS: With our own facilities and the nearby sports complex we are able to offer all kinds of sports and games as well as organise competitions and tournaments.
C) FESTIVE: Games, both indoors and outdoors, during the day and night, songs, fun dancing, parties, campfires, etc., are just a few examples of what our monitors do with the groups spending some time with us.
D) EDUCATIONAL: Although many outdoor activities can also be included in this category, here we would like to mention in particular such workshops as those involved in modelling and clay painting, origami, knot making, work in leather, collage, masks, etc.
All these activities are carried out with experienced monitors qualified in leisure time activities. Moreover, the age of the different groups is always taken into account when organising the activities.
E) Cultural Itineraries: Our programme inlcudes numerous guided tours throughout the region of Cantabria, among which:
- Cabárceno Nature Park and Santander.
- Picos de Europa: Potes, Fuente Dé cable railway,
Monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana and San Vicente de
La Barquera.
- Campóo: Reinosa, Julióbriga and Fontibre.
- Coastal Towns: Castro Urdiales, Laredo and Santoña.
- Excursion through the Pasiega Valley towns.
- Puente Viesgo and Prehistoric caves of Monte Castillo.
- Altmira neocave and Museum and Santillana del Mar.
- Gaudís El Capricho, Sobrellano Palace and Comillas.
- Bilbao and the Guggenheim Museum.
Apart from the programmed tours listed above we are open to any suggestions you may have for alternative ones.
